Super saya sa Superbowl

Let the game begin!

My close friend and fellow-blogger Min and I have decided to hold a "can-you-match-this?" food challenge. She'll find good food in the U.S. and talk about it on her blog, and I will do the same here in Manila. Since her last post was about a resto in Chinatown, SF, I am of course challenged to post a Chinese place din. Good thing my college barkada Maricar treated us to a birthday dinner at Superbowl of China at Blue Wave Mall (that's in Macapagal Ave., near Mall of Asia).

Superbowl branches everywhere are always full of people coz totoo namang yummy talaga ang food nila. Dinner was at 7 but as per barkada tradition, one person came on time (this time it was me) and the rest trickled in at different times. Maricar called me ahead and tasked me to start ordering food if she came really late. Scared of which dish to order, I waited till half of the group arrived and assigned them to pick one dish each... and told one of our resident accountant-barkadas (there were several in our group) to monitor the prices just in case Maricar failed to arrive and we have to split the bill among us (Mind you, Superbowl food has huge servings but they ain't cheap. Hehehe).

Anyway, I can't remember the exact names of the dishes but we had dumpling platter for our appetizer, then crispy spicy crablets, fish fillet in garlic sauce, superbowl fried rice and lemon chicken. Maricar did arrive and was happy with what we ordered. When Cindy came in an hour and a half later, Maricar added yangchow rice and some kinda noodles (didn't know what it was -- sorry. Hehehe.).

And that's the end of the food challenge for now. Later ulit...

Dinner with my college barkada is always filled with katatawanan kaya super ingay kami as usual. Good thing there was a band singing just outside the resto so hindi kami ang pinaka-maingay (for a change) sa Blue Wave. Hehehe. (Note: A few years ago during a Davao vacation, a lounge singer in a famous hotel actually stopped singing when she got distracted by our noisy entrance at the hotel lobby. It was supposed to be embarrassing but am amused to say we laughed our heads off even more when we she stopped singing. Nope, we weren't drunk. Bad girls lang talaga. Hehehe.)

Aside from the birthday gift-giving thing (I recycled an old Sex and the City calendar and made it into a gift tag. Knew Maricar would get a huge kick out of the tag alone since she's a fan of the show), dinner topics ranged from Michael Buble as my mystery international singer, EO's plea to have the weddings of the remaining single girls be scheduled in the same week para sulit ang travel niya from Davao to Manila, all our injuries (my sprain, Cindy's sprain, Luisi's sprain), Spiderman 3, Sally as the supermom (getting her MBA degree with top honors from DLSU), the possibility that Cindy actually went to Superbowl at MOA instead of Superbowl at Blue Wave, and Luisi's most recent U.S. trip.

Kulang ang oras sa kuwentuhan kung sa dinner lang kaya we transferred our noisy selves to Cheesecake, Etc. a few doors down. Will post the food dun and the kuwentuhan another time.... maybe tomorrow. Ang haba na nito eh....
