Harry on my mind (don't worry, no spoilers here)
Had a class Saturday afternoon. Had to go to the Cinemalaya Film Festival Sunday afternoon. I finally got to start Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows shortly after dinner Sunday night.... and finished the whole thing after dinner the next day. (Uy, natulog naman ako, kahit papaano.)But my goodness, HP Book 7 is really really really good!!! It's right up there with my other favorite HP books -- Books 3 and 4 of course! It was exhilarating, moving, funny, heartwarming, etc. etc. etc.!!!
Dinner at the Diner
Last Friday, to get our minds off the book release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Gladys and I joined Julie for dinner at a place that was well-reviewed in the newspaper a few days ago -- the Butter Diner at Shopwise Center (what used to be Fiesta Carnival -- yup, that magical place for people who were born in the '70s) in Cubao. And we weren't disappointed! The decor was true to the Americana theme! The service staff were all wearing "diner attire" complete with Elvis and Afro wigs.
The food was rich, fatty and yummy! Relatively cheap yet delicious! Obviously, their specialty was designer butter so we order different flavors of the stuff (ex. salsa cilantro, strawberry and bacon bits) and had bread toasted right at the table (yup, they provided one toaster per table -- cute, di ba?).
We shared crab salad before the main course, of course.
Then I had roasted chicken, Julie had pan-fried fish, and Gladys had potroast.
Since we were already pigging out, Julie and I shared a belgian waffle (and spread the remaining butter on it), while Gladys ordered banana split. Sorry, I didn't get to take pictures of the dessert since I was so full I could hardly get my wallet out of my bag. Hehehe.
Note: After dinner we had a very "pang-matanda" activity -- shopping at the Shopwise Supermarket. Hehehe. Nah, it was also our way of walking off all the calories we ate. Yeah right.

There's always time for Harry Potter
In case my readers have been wondering (yes, kayong lima yun) why I haven'tmade a new entry since the 6th, it's because I'm super ngarag sa schoolwork. That's what I get for finally going for a full load this sem. Hehehe. Anyway, I did get to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (my personal film review coming soon) -- siyempre during the first screening of the first day of release. Why break from tradition, di ba? Kahit isang tonelada pang papers and readings yan, there's always time for Harry Potter. And now that the much-awaited and much dreaded (will Harry die?) book is about to be released in two days, I am already planning to make time for it as well (by doing advanced work on school assignments, o di ba). Hopefully, my sister will be able to finish the book in 24 hours (hindi ata niya bibitawan ang libro when she picks it up from the bookstore at 7 a.m. on Saturday) and I will be free to get my hands on it by Sunday afternoon. Hay naku pareng Harry, para sa iyo, maaga kong tatapusin ang mga papers ko.

Pinoy humor
Kahit medyo luma na ang story, I just want to share a funny thing I read in an entertainment magazine a few days ago. The article was about the recent Miss Universe wherein Miss Philippines won Most Photogenic. Apparently, our country's been winning the same title for about 4 years in a row. Kasi naman pala, via internet voting ang botohan. Sangkaterbang Pinoy siguro ang nagpapanalo sa manok natin. Hehehe. Anyway, sabi ng writer, kung ganon rin lang naman everytime... dapat daw PICTURE na lang ang padala natin next year, instead of the real person para tipid gastos pa! HAHAHA!

good popcorn movie
Finallly saw Transformers a few hours ago, after getting raving reviews from at least 5 people who saw it last weekend. My verdict? I liked it! Good enough for one tub of popcorn which Gladys and I failed to finish (Note: The movie clocked in at 2 hours and by that time our bladders were about to burst already)! The movie is like the Independence Day of the new millenium. Sort of. The CGI really rocks! Shia was funny, Josh was cute, and for Prisonbreak fans, Sucre even made a cute cameo. And since it is a Michael Bay flick, the whole thing was pretty loud from beginning to end... so prepare your eardrums. Hehehe.
And now I can't seem to get the bastos version of the Transformers cartoon theme song out of my head. I only remember a few words though. Paulit-ulit lang sa utak ko. Kaloka.

excited?
Bought advance tickets to the first screening of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix a few hours ago. There are still 8 days to go but as per tradition, my fellow potterheads and I watch a new HP movie on the first hour of the first day of release. We even file for SL and VL for just that day. My friend Ricci calls it her "HP leave", one she takes every other year. Yup, lukaluka talaga kami. Hehehe.
