Catching up with the college barkada every Christmas is always scheduled during the first week of December, right around Luisi's birthday. This year, we met up at Heaven N' Eggs at Glorietta 4. Am not a huge fan of this restaurant (I visited their Morato branch two years ago and I found their menu to have too much.... eggs. Hehehe) but since the prices were relatively affordable and the food tasty (and yet still egg-y), I was willing to give it another try. Nope, still egg-y. Hehehe. You can't tell by the pictures alone though. Hehehe.
After an egg-y lunch, some of us roamed around the mall before going to Manila Pen for a free concert. (According to the papers kasi, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, The Company and the UP Concert Chorus will be performing at the lobby). Yun nga lang, when we got there, super crowded na ang lobby -- SRO talaga! When we saw ABSCBN tycoon Gabby Lopez standing beside us, we knew we would never find good seats. I mean, if he can't get seats, paano na kaming mere mortals? Kaya yun, we decided to haul our butts to Shangrila instead. Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the glass doors of the Manila Pen damaged by the coup attempt two weeks ago.
Tea at the Shangri-la
A quick scan at the menu at the lobby cafe showed various versions of afternoon high tea and Filipino bibingka (yes, bibingka) all at P485. Since we can get more authentic (and definitely cheaper) bibingka outside, Maricar and I decided to order the classic version of the afternoon tea package while waiting for Cindy and Sally to arrive. I asked Maricar if it was okay to order afternoon tea with a side of Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Tinawanan lang ako. Hehehe.

Sally, Cindy and her daughter Sidney soon found Maricar and I pretending to be English women enjoying afternoon tea. I kept on offering them tea and scones with a trying-hard thick British accent. Apparently, I wasn't really good at accents coz Sally and Cindy kept on turning to Maricar and ask "Ano daw?" Hehehe.

While we were chatting the night away, birthday girl Sidney loved eating her chocolate cake and listening to the lovely lady violinists who played three sets at the lobby cafe last night -- (notice their outfits? we all thought mga abay sila sa kasal. hehehe).

Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the huge Christmas tree at the Shangrila lobby. Kakaloka kasi Bulgari and Escada bags were placed at the foot of the tree. I laughed when Maricar sarcastically muttered, "Wow, would I love to be part of that Christmas list."
